recent reads

here's just a few of the books i enjoyed reading over the summer...

the life of pi was a fascinating read! it is about an indian boy who survives 227 days after a shipwreck while stranded on a life boat with a bengal tiger. Besides being a great survival and adventure story, there is also deeper meaning to this tale.

i really loved this book and thought it was beautifully written. it's about a preacher and his family who journey into africa in the 50s. i liked how it was told through the viewpoint of his wife and four daughters.

jane eyre is one of my favorite books! i read it back in high school and decided to read it again. i had forgotten almost everything so it was sort of like reading it for the first time. i'm excited to see the movie that just came out on dvd.

i'm now on the hunt for a new book to read! any suggestions?

I love your book posts. I'm loving reading Jane Eyre again too.

I also enjoyed reading The Life of Pi a few years back. This summer I read The Boy Who Dared and the Evolution of Calpurnia Tate. Our RS handed out Daughters in My Kingdom today. The kids enjoyed The Indian in the Cupboard, A Visitor for Bear, and Bats at the Library. Does your state have an award program similar to the Newberry and Caldecot awards?
