yesterday evan wanted me to take a picture of him wearing his superhero mask. he told me "this is my superhero smile"
i convinced him to take his mask off for a few

love this sweet, silly boy of mine

this was a fascinating book. definitely recommend to all.

i really enjoyed this biography of catherine the great, who was taken to russia at the age of 14 to marry the heir to the russian throne, and ended up becoming one of the greatest rulers in russian history.

i actually read this book last year, but never blogged about it. dan is currently reading it and can't put it down. it is the incredible story of Louis Zamperini's survival at sea after a WWII plane crash and his ordeal as a POW in japan. such an amazing story.
we survived the first two weeks of school! the first week was ROUGH. we were all sick with a nasty stomach virus. all three girls missed a day of school because of it. we also closed on our home and had to move everything out by the end of the week. on top of all the vomit and moving, dan's sweet grandma (vovozinha) passed away. so while dan was on a plane headed to utah for the funeral, i was all by myself doing the final cleaning of the house the night before the new owners moved in. luckily we had done all the heavy duty cleaning before we put the home for sale. it is such a relief to have all of that behind us now. we feel so blessed to have sold our home as quickly as it did AND to get the price we asked for.
