south padre island

before school started, we decided to take a three day vacation in south padre island. we stayed in a beautiful condo right across from the beach. we were in the upper right one. the condo also has a pool that we had all to ourselves!

the beach access was just steps away from the condo. so nice to have the beach so close!

the water was absolutely stunning. nothing at all like galveston

elayna and kyla pretty much boogie boarded all day, every day. on one of the evenings we were there, a small storm rolled in and the waves were really big.

they also spent a lot of time building sand castles

on the way home, we stopped at some of the touristy spots so the kids could each pick out a souvenir and some salt water taffy. evan LOVED the giant shark!

this was such a fun trip and a much needed vacation before school started!

watermelon vinaigrette salad

this is one of my favorite summer salads.

it's a really simple salad. ingredients are baby spinach, strawberries, feta cheese, red onion, and watermelon vinaigrette. the dressing is so delicious! but i think you can only buy it at HEB.

we had this salad along with some grilled rib-eye steaks and corn on the cob. the sweetness of the salad complemented the steak nicely.

beach day

lorelei had her first beach experience and she loved it! she would bear crawl as fast as she could across the sand and into the water to splash, and then back onto the sand. she did this over and over again. it was so cute to watch.

she is so close to walking. she can stand on her own and take one or two steps. daddy was helping her here.
